Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 3

Good Morning Everyone,

Well today is day three and the theme that I have been set is

Day 3: Tell us how to do something, can be a craft technique that’s as old as the hills but your take on it OR Craft something that has the colour red in it

So I decided to show you a technique I got taught about four years ago, I love this technique and I think it looks lovely on cards and layouts.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Equipment Needed

* Funky Foam
* Scissors
* Pegs
* Paint Brush
*Heat Gun

Step One
 Select the funk foam that you want to use. I have picked a pale yellow.

 Step Two

 Cut the funky foam down into strips, The thinner the strip the thinner the swirl, the thicker the thicker the swirl. I have cut three different widths.

 Step Three

 Using the pegs and the paint brush start wrapping around the funky foam securing at one end.

 I have used washing pegs, but you can use little wooden craft pegs, I used to use these but the washing pegs give it a much better hold.

 Step Four

 Continue wrapping around and secure at the other end, your paint brush should look like the picture.

You decide at this point how tight or loose you would like the swirls.

 Step Five
 Take you heat gun and heat the funky foam up, it takes about 10 to 15 seconds to do, you will notice a very slight sheen appear on the foam, when you see this move on to the next section, I generally hold it in one hand and twist as I heat it up, this way gets and even coverage, but don't keep the heat on to long.

 Step Six

 Take the pegs off, when you have heated it and this is what should happen, it should stay attached to the paint brush, gentle pull it off!

Step Seven

 This is what the swirls should look like.

 So that is how to make funky foam swirls.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a few cards that I have made over the years using it, I have previously shown these before, but thought I would show them again for inspiration.

I hope you have liked my little tutorial on how to make funky foam swirls.

 Don't forget about the give away.

I have decided as well that I will also do a little give away -  3 separate winners -

Hi Kelly

What a great idea, you forget some older techniques, that are effective. Thanks for showing us how to do it.
