Birthday Suprise

Good Afternoon Everyone, 

So sorry I have not been around for a week, I have not stopped all week and I just don't know were the time has gone. 

Can I also just say a quick Hello and Thank You to new and old followers, and a big thank you to everyone who leaves comments for me, they are very much appreciated. 

I have noticed my followers are getting closer and closer to 100.. Maybe when we get over the hundred I might do a surprise give away. 

Today's card I a card I made for my Mother In Laws birthday. I went with the rich pink card stock I had left over from my wedding invitations as I wanted to use the brown/pink backing paper that I had selected and these two work together brilliantly.

I seen this card shape on pinterest and just had to try it when I seen it. 

I took step by step instructions (not all the steps tho I forgot a few ooops) and thought I would share with you. Please stay with me, this is my first step by step I have done, but it is something I am hoping to do more of in the future. 

So here we go 

These are the measurements that you need, for the size of the card I made you need to use 2 a4 pieces of card. On one piece you need to score at 1 1/2 inch, 3 inch, 5 inch, 7 inch and 9 inch. You then need to fold them into mountain and valley folds. 

The second piece of card needs to be scored at 3 inch and this needs adhering to the remaining section of card 1. You then need to fold the remaining of the second card so that the two pieces of card meet so the card will stand up equally.

This is what it should look like when it is stood up. 

I used a brown/pink backing paper with white flowers - I think it is a popcorn backing paper from Crafters Companion. The measurements for the paper are 1 1/4 inch, 2 3/4 inch, 4 3/4 inch, 6 3/4 inch, 8 3/4. I think they were cut at 8 inches but whatever the a4 card is I took a quarter of an inch of. 

The next step I added the borders, these are spellbinders border and have been cut and embossed using a white card stock. 

And this is the finished card, I added a selection of flowers that I cut from my cricut machine, stamped and coloured my image in using a House Mouse Stamp from Joanna Sheen, and coloured with my promarker pens, I stamped the sentiment and added gems in various places to give it the detail it needed.

So this is the tutorial of how I did it, like I said I forgot a few steps, I meant to take some pics of the colouring in stage but I got to involved into the colouring in and forgot to take the photos, and again when I was cutting and assembling the flowers..

Witching Hour

Good Morning Everyone, 

How are you?

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu

This weeks theme is 

HALLOWEEN

Now as you know I am not a fan of Halloween, but after making gift cards, gift tags and sweetie bags, I thought it was time I made an actual Halloween Card. 

Now the card is a little over 5x5 

I used my Black soot distress ink to change the colour of the card from the standard cream to the black. 

The next layer was cut down a quater of an inch, coloured in with a purple promarker and mounted onto the card.

The main layer of the card has again been coloured using dress ink "black soot" I was looking for a wispy night look to it, so wasn't going 100% perfect on the blending as I wanted texture to the card.  I created my "moon" by cutting out a small circle and temporary adhering it to the layer before putting the ink on, and then I pealed the “moon" away leaving the white look. 

I used a white ink pad and a star stamp and added a few stars to the back ground. 

All my images have been cut from the cricut. I cut three bats, a cat, a witch, and a picket fence. I coloured the bats, witch and cat in with a black promarker to make them stand out, but left the fence white for additional detail. 

I finished the card by adding a ribbon and a bow to the picket fence.

Published Again -- Yippee

Good Morning Everyone, 

How are you all today. 

Now yesterday I said that I was going to give you a tutorial.. My tutorial has vanished from my computer, so I need to re do it - so you'll have to wait for a few more days.. Sorry about that.. Don't you just hate computers when they don't work. 

Anyway I just wanted to give you heads up on a magazine. 

Complete Cardmaking issue 46 is out now in the stores, and I can tell you it is an amazing addition. The images on the free CD are delightful. 

I am even more excited as this is the second time the editor has used me for her "freebie feature" and I was super excited to see one of the cards on the front cover of the magazine.  Super excited

Anyway I suggest a little trip to the shops and have a look at the magazine I enjoy reading it and like I said the CD is adorable. 

I will be showcasing the cards I made for you all, over the next few weeks.

Orange and Black

Good Morning Everyone, 

How are you all, can you believe it is Friday already? These weeks are flying past. 

Last night our local garden center had their Christmas open night, seemed very strange to be going around looking at decorations before we have even had Halloween. 

Talking about halloween, it is time for a new challenge over at Patties Creations Challenge Blog. This fortnights theme is 

ORANGE and BLACK

 

Now I don't normally do "Halloween", but when I seen Patties, cute Pumpkins I couldn't resist them. 

I used Pumpkin Patch from Patties store. 

I didn't want to make a card this time around and I don't normally give sweets out, but I decided to have a go at making my own little sweetie bag.

So I printer out "Pumpkin Patch" and coloured it in using "punpkin" promarker, I used a yellow for the inside of the pumpkin and a green for the top. 

I matted and layered this up on Orange and Black mats.

I took a food bag and filled up my bag with orange, black and green sweets. I fixed the "topper" to the bag which created the "seal" and then I cut my own pumpkin patch from my cricut and added it to the bottom of the bag. 

Not my normal crafty thing to do but I actually really liked the look of it. 

This year for Christmas I have LOADS of ideas of what I want to make, so doing this really got me in the mood to start my Christmas favor boxes for my table.

Buttons and Bows

Good Morning Everyone, 

Today is inspirational Wednesday over at Just For Fun.

This months theme is Buttons and Bows and Team A introduced to their selection at the beginning of the month and now it is Team B turn to give you some inspiration. 

For this challenge I decided to use another Christmas image, after all it isn't far away and I still have LOADS of Christmas cards to make. 

The image I have used is a Lili of the valley image I love their stamps, they always stamp out with immaculate impressions and stamp first time. Love them and they are so affordable as well. 

I went with a standard A5 card and used two pieces of backing paper. For the corner I used a cut from my cricut machine. 

I added a Christmas sentiment and cut using a spellbinders die, added glitter, ribbon and bow to finish the card.

Bratty Witch

Good Morning Everyone, 

Today is inspirational Monday over at Crafty Bloggers Network.

Most of the design team have gone with a Halloween image, and this weeks inpsiration from me is a tag I have made to go on a pressie that I am giving to one of our family members on halloween.

Bunches of Love

Good Evening Everyone, 

How are we all today? I can't believe it is Saturday night already were has the time gone. 

 Today's card is a card I made for my father in law to give to my mother in law for her birthday on Wednesday. 

I made an 8x8 card with different mats and layers with mint and purple, the purple is a pearlised card stock I believe from Crafters Companion - think I got it with a kit when I purchased a CD and stamp combination from them. 

The image is from Lili of the Valley and I think this is just so cute, love the little bear and his mouse friend with their matching watering cans.

I made the roses myself using a 5 petal flower cut from my cricut machine at 2 inches I used the flower on the cartridge All Mixed Up and used the "shadow" flower. You need three flowers all cut at the same size, one flower you put a hole in the center. The second on you cut two petals of and the third you cut one petal of. You fold, and shape to how you want it and then I use a hot glue gun to fix together and finish with a stamen. 

The butterflies and swirls are also from the Cricut machine in various sizes - the swirl is from Wild Card and the butterflies from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art. 

The sentiment "Bunches of love" has been stamped using a black ink pad and is from a popcorn bear stamp range. also called "Bunches of love"

To finish the card I added some embossing detail to the bottom half of the top layer  I used a Sue Wilson A4 folder, Added a piece of white ribbon that I coloured in using my Mint Promarker to make it match. Added Opal liquid pearls to the center of the embossing sections, and to the center of the butterflie.

So Sweet

Good Morning Everyone, 

How excited am I. Today I am guest designer for the Joanna Sheen Challenge Blog. 

I was so lucky to be selected with my fall card, featuring messy rabbit. 

Today's challenge is called 

"So Sweet" 

Now you can decide how you interpret this anyway you want, but it must include a Joanna Sheen image/stamp

I have chosen to use a House Mouse stamp, and make it into a Christmas card. 

I started with a 8x8 card blank and matted and layered this with Christmas Green card stock and white hammered card stock from the paper mill.

The image was stamped and coloured in using promarker pens.

Gingerbread House - Spice, Ginger, Apricot

Mouse - Sandstone, caramel, Blush

Sweets - Red and Green - Various shades

Candy cane - Poppy

I used the sentiment from the house mouse sent of "Sugar 'n' Spice Makes Christmas Nice"

I added two corner die cut outs to the top corners and six pieces of card candi.

Here is a little about him

Designer of over 100 theatrical productions, Rick St Dennis (Donald McAfee) is also the author of 4 books on decorative painting and contributor to at least a dozen national magazines on crafts and art. He has taught design at the college level as well as seminars and classes across the USA and Canada. He is one of a handful of designers to have designed TWO productions of AIDA, Verdi's massive Egyptian opera spectacle. Currently living in the quiet beach community of Seal Beach, California he writes restaurant reviews and theatre reviews between assignments for web designs, logos and creating art for local shows. Rick has appeared on such TV shows as Home Matters with Susan Powell, Aileen's Crafts and others. He was Crafts editor for Country Folk Art Magazine and sells his artwork nationally through galleries and shows. Among numerous awards he won a presidential commendation in 1976 for his contributions to the bicentennial year including the design of the west coast premier of William Grant Still's opera BAYOU LEGEND. His drawings and paintings are in the collections of Diana Ross, Sandy Duncan, Sammy Davis Jr. and Jacqueline Onnasis amongst others.

My card is a a6 card that I have made into a gift card. 

For Halloween me and my hubby don't tend to give sweets to the kids in the family instead we give them a little bit of money or gift card to go towards something that they have been saving for. 

So this year I thought I would make the card for the gift card. 

I started with a blank a6 card blank, and using my black soot distress ink I inked the front (I didn't want a solid black ) I printed some orange backing paper of with black bats and added this to the front of the card, I matted the image onto a orange mat and stuck this down. I coloured my image in using my promarker pens and shaded using three colours of the same colour family. I stamped the cauldron and coloured it in before cutting it out. I then stamped the sentiment and colored it in using a dark grey and a orange promarker pen. 

For the inside of the card I Matted and layered onside and stamped the "Magic" sentiment again in the bottom corner, I left this blank so I could write the greeting on it. On the other side I again used the black soot inked the card blank, then used a white ink pad stamped the swirl with the star.. 

I matted and layered the bottom piece put a sentiment on and glued it down on three edges so i could slip the money/gift card in.

Celebrate Autumn

Good Morning Everyone, 

How are you all today? 

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu. This week it is the turn of the pink team and this weeks theme is 

"Celebrate Autumn" 

Now I struggled with this challenge - Don't know why - I just could not get any inspiration for it. 

Anyway I decided to make a little a6 card and mat and layer between brown and orange colours, along with a squirrel cut from the Create a Critter 2 Cartridge from the Cricut collection. 

To make it feel fall I embossed the top layer and then ran my promarker pens over the top of the embossing then used an burnt orange ink to get in all the de-embossing bits of the embossing. 

I am not entirely happy with it, but it does Celebrate Autumn.

Ribbon Challenge.

Morning Everyone, 

Today's card is a card I have made for my DT position at Patties Creation Design Challenge Blog 

This fortnights theme is "Ribbon" - How easy is that, I expect we will get  a lot of entries for this one. 

I used one of patties images Poinsettias in Flower Pot for this card and I love the image, think it is so pretty. I coloured it in using my promarker pens. 

To create the shape of the layers I used nestabilities label 23 grand, and matted these with red and white. The white section is embossed using a corture creations embossing folder Poinsettia 

To finish the card of I added a thick piece of ribbon behind the image and then a smaller piece of ribbon towards the bottom of the card I added a bow and three gems. I have left the sentiment of for now, as I couldn't make my mind up which Christmas saying would work best, so thought I would leave it until I know who the card was going to be sent to.. Sometimes I think a card can work without the sentiment - so who knows it might not get one at all. haha. 

So enough of my rabbiting on. Here is the card

The Boys

Evening Everyone, 

My poor blog is feeling very neglected again, this time not because of illness but because of a trip the the lake district - my fav place in the UK -

So anyway I am back today and thought I had better give my blog some love.

The project I have for you today is a 12x12 single page layout.

This page is created for our best friends twins for their christening. They waited for the boys to be a year old, before getting them christened and they looked so cute toddling around in their little matching suits. 

The party afterwards was amazing as well, and them cakes were ace!

Anyway the layout is created with basic matting and layering of the photos, and a section under the photos for the writing. 

To give the page a bit of character I created a little train as the boys loved trains at the age of 1 and then replicated the animals from the cake. 

I gave the train a bit of embossing through the GC again for texture to the page. 

The train, animals and title was cut using my cricut expression.

So there you have it the lovely little page. 

I will be back on Friday with another card for a challenge for one of my DT
