Among The Stars

Good Morning Guys,

How are we all today, hope you have all had a great weekend and managed to get some crafting done.

Today I am back and as promised it is not a Christmas card today.

Instead today is a card that I have made with one of the wordage stamps

I think you are starting to get to know me by now and that my favourite colour is Pink. I haven't shared a pink and white card for a few weeks so I thought I needed to rectify that straight away hahaha.

Today's card is another 6x6 white card, matted and layered, this time the "pink" layer is actually a white texture piece of card stock that I used "Warn Lipstick" from the distress range and inked the edges giving it a mottled pink look, I then took a white piece of card and embossed it using an embossing folder of little dots, I thought the little dots resembled what I imagine the moon would look like in texture all bumpy and lumpy with bits missing (no idea why I think this, it is strange how you get an image in your head and stick to it)

I used my Cameo machine but I guess you could cut the star free hand if you don't have shaky hands (I would not get away with it trust me) I inked the star with the same distress ink to give it a matching look to the second layer, I also did this with the five smaller stars.

In the center of the larger star I stamped and embossed my sentiment I added fake stitching and gems to the card and that was it complete.

So what do we think?  The sentiments that Bee Crafty have are just beautiful and can come in for so many occasions.

Well that is it for me for today, don't forget Sue will be back tomorrow and trust me you don't want to miss it.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 30 - Final Day !!!

Good Morning Gang.

Well today is the final day, this challenge has gone so quickly!

Today's theme Day 30:  You’re crafting wish list OR Craft something that celebrates a birthday

My crafty Wish List.

Here we go..

1. Full set of promarkers - I have tried other makes but these are my all time fav pens
2. A lesson completely focused on coloring techniques.
3. Produce my own range of stamps - This is something that I would LOVE to do, and have thought about doing it lots, and it is something I am looking into doing - University will probably help me with this, as hopefully it will give me some contacts!
4. Be on the Letraset Design Team, I have wanted to be on this since I first started with promarkers about 5 years ago and keep applying but never hear from them :-(
5. Have more time to Scrapbook - I love scrapbooking but it always ends up being the last thing to get done - at the moment I am trying "smashbooking" as it is quicker then making 12x12 layouts - I am nearly finished my first one, as soon as I have I will share with you.

I best stop there! I could go on forever lol.

Thank you all for sticking with me through this, and for leaving such kind comments.

Good Morning Guys

Today is the eve of the last day and I can't believe how quick it has gone.

Today the theme is: Day 29: What advice would you give to a newbie crafter OR Craft something that has the colour orange on it

I thought I would go with the

"What advice would you give a newbie crafter"

I think mine would be to have "fun" try different things! and practise at what you do.

I would also suggest joining a class, it is a great way to find out what products are the better ones to use i.e. glue, somewhere for you to get ideas and ask questions, and a it helps make craft sociable.

I would also suggest joining in on challenges, I thought I would not be good enough for challenges, but actually when I started joining in on them, my craft improved a lot.

I have decided as well that  I will also do a little give away -  3 separate winners -
Prize 1 - £10 Bee Crafty Gift Voucher
Prize 2 - £5 Craft Magazine - winner to choose
Prize 3 - Lili of the valley stamp to the value of £4.75

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 28

Good Morning Gang.

How are we all? Saturday today and in the UK it is Armed Forces Day.. So lots of celebrations will be going on in our towns pity it looks like rain for most of today! Armed forces day is something close to my heart, well anything to do with the army is, after all I am a proud daughter of a dad who served for 13 years for his country!

So today's theme is Day 28:  A day in your crafting life. Can be just words, words and pictures or just pictures OR Craft something that celebrates love

I thought it would be funny to share a day in my crafting day.

Depending on the time of the year depends on how much I have to get done and it seems to be the more I have to do, the less inspiration I have.

I will share an example of this last week - July is hectic for Wedding Anniversaries in our family and within the first two weeks I need five cards but they are all within the same circle so they have to be completely different...

Normally I will start by either sketching out my idea in my head, or sit for "10 mins" looking through pinterest, which normally turns out to be more like an hour.

I will eventually decide on what I am doing then a tornado hits the room, the boxes get pulled out, the card gets selected, the flowers are picked, the gems are picked, the pens are selected and by now everything is in massive piles on my desk.. I end up with hardly any room to actually make the card!  As normal I will have a really cool idea but the card never comes out quiet like what I had planned in the first place!

Once I get my first card finished I will move on to another if I have time..

Or I will end up on Facebook lol..

A quick snap shot of my day.

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 27

Good Morning Everyone,

Well it is day 27 which means we are starting to get near to the end.

Today Kairen has set the theme of: Day 27:  Crafting muck ups, tell us how you got round them OR Craft something that dots

Crafting Muck Ups.

Well this will be fun.

1. Card Blanks - I sometimes make my owns card blanks especially 8x8 if I don't want a white card base, I will use two pieces of A4 card, cut them down hinge them together, the first time I did this was for Father Day last year.  I made the 8x8 card matted it up, embellished it and went to town on the cards. (I did two one for my dad one for father in law) I loved the cards, on the morning of Fathers Day I went to put them in their envelopes only to find that they didn't fit. Took a while to work out that an 8x8 will not fit in an 8x8 envelope simple because they are both the same size.. Luckily I had a bit of a thicker white border then I would normally use and I was able to trim them down to get them to fit in.. It suddenly dawned on me that I needed to make my card blanks just slightly shorted then 8x8 for them to fit - you would think a year later I would remember this - but you can probably guess that there is still the odd occasion I muck up and forget.

2. Upside down and inside out cards are often a regular on my table - I am sure there is little gremlins who run out and switch the card around when I am not looking

3. My favourite one at the moment is to put the inserts in, make the card all nice and pretty and then forget to write in the card, many occasions I have forgotten to write the recipients name in the card never mind who it is from..

So a few of my crafting muck ups and they still happen on a regular basis. I really do need to learn to stop doing these haha.

Thanks for hopping in today See you tomorrow for day 28

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 25

Hi Guys,

So nice to see you again, 5 more days to go and the challenge will have been complete

So Kairen set today's theme of:

Day 25: Tell us about something you’re struggling with OR Craft something to give to an Auntie

Well I think for me it has been pretty evident on a few posts now, that I feel I really struggle with my colouring I do think I am okay at it but would love to improve this a lot more. If anyone wants to come to my house and show me how that would be great - I will even bake cupcakes lol.

I do find it hard to get the colour matches okay, the shading, the blending when I think it looks okay I realise that I have missed a section, or when I go back to it maybe an hour later, it dawns on me that it maybe isn't as good as it looked.

I guess it is the same saying as school - Practise makes perfect.

So a nice quick short post for me today.

Craft or Blog Every Day In June - Day 24

Hi Guys

How are you all doing?

Today Kairen has set the theme of:

Day 24: Describe yourself in 5 words OR Craft something in the colour blue

I had some help on this one. I ended up asking 5 friends the question "if you could describe me in 5 words what would you use" and took one from each of them.

1. Friendly

2.Passionate

3. Talkative

4.Loyal

5. Trustworthy

I love my friends - they make me sound like an amazing person

So come on then lets have a bit of fun, if you are leaving a comment why not tell me 5 things that would describe yourself.

Thank you so much for stopping in.

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 23

Hi Guys,

Really late getting this up on the blog today.

So the themes are: Day 23: Dish the dirt on your biggest craft spend OR Craft something for a child recpient

I was going to craft for a child but I ran out of time June is my busiest time as July I need loads of Anniversary cards and Birthday cards so the back end of June gets hectic.

Anyway thought I would share what my biggest craft spend..

It has got to be my electronic cutting machines.

I started with the Cricut Create I purchased it second hand, as the one I found was from a lovely lady who really looked after her things, and she was also selling her cartridges it come with 6 cartridges , three cutting mats, some blades and a bit of card stock. I got it for around £200.00

I moved on to the Expression which I have called "Eddie" this cost me about £90.00  to upgrade as I sold my create and got a complete bargain with the expression - again this come with some accessories.

Just recently some of you will know that I have purchased the Cameo machine called "Cameron" I got this second hand as well, I was originally going to purchase it from a shop but I wasn't sure how much I would get on with it, so decided to try and get a bit cheaper so if I did sell it in the future I wouldn't loose as much - I got this at a bargain of £140.00

And now for my big confession, a week ago today I took into my care a brand new Cricut Explore, you guessed it this has a name as well and of course it is " Dora - Dora the explorer" I found it on amazon and as I am a prime customer I ordered it at 3 o'clock last Monday and it arrived at Dinner time on Tuesday - And it was the same price as Create and Craft just without any postage charges so £250 lighter but I am reasonably pleased with it, needs some attention and the software could do with a bit of a over hall but hopefully these are just teething problems.

I have a full review of the three machines coming up soon! Including what you get in the box with the explore as they don't make it 100% clear what you get.

So since 2010 my spend on electronic cutting machines has got to  £680.00

Ooooo I SOOOOO hope my hubby doesn't read this!

Right off to hang head in shame at that spend- hope you don't think I am bragging, because really I am not, I just wanted to share it with you and confess fully. but if you are thinking of purchases any of these machines, you can contact me and I will happily answer any questions that I can. But bearing in mind you can get some really really good deals out there! just make sure you read the description, check feedback and ask questions if you are unsure and my rule is always if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is!

Under My Tree

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I thought I would share with you a Christmas card.  I no we are only in June, but honestly the way this year is going it will soon be here before we know it..

Whilst I was on holiday last month down near Bev I paid her a little visit and I loved this saying and thought it was so cool for a Christmas card as it was something a bit different.

So the card is a 6x6 white card, matted with a Christmas red card stock, the next layer is a white card stock and I have used one of the Inkables called Chainlink Fencing.

I used my grand calibre and embossed then I used my Red Brick Distress Ink and inked through the stencil using cut and dry foam.

Next I stamped and embossed it using a glitter gold embossing powder  I matted this onto red and white cars stock. I used foam tape to mount this up to give it dimension.

I found three poinsettias that were origianlly white and used the same distress ink and coloured them in I just used different pressure and different amount of ink on each one to give the lighter and darker shades. These are from card, but you could easily use fabric ones as well, or even Christmas roses.

To finish the card I added card candi and gold liquid pearls to the center of the chain links and the center of the flowers.

Well that is it for me for another week, I will be back next week and I promise it will not be a Christmas card.

Take care

Craft Everyday In June - Day 22

Good Morning.

How are we all doing? Still with me I see and for that I thank you.

Today Kairen set the theme of

Day 22:  A snap shot of your day. Can be words, words and picture or just a picture OR Craft something that has a lacy theme

So a snap shot of your day I picked a general Monday to share with you.

6.30am Alarm goes off and the start of the day, by 8 o'clcock both me and hubby are up showered changed had brekkie and ready for the day hubby will go out about 8.10 to start his day and depending on what jobs comes in it may be 12 hours time before I see him, sometimes it is longer.

9.00 - Generally I start the housework (if not in work or college) get caught up on the washing, ironing, hoover you name it if it needs doing it gets done.

10.00  - Food Shopping to get done

11.00 CRAFT TIME ! - I generally start by checking the calander to see what is coming up  and decide on what I want to craft - I always have a massive list of things I want to get done so I always have something to choose from.

13.00 Lunch time - If I remember to have something to eat.  - and then straight back to the craft room - after the washing has been pegged out if it is ready to go

15.00 - Back down stairs to re sort the washing iron anything that has dried in the morning and makes a start on tea - bung everything into the slow cooker - or make a curry up ready for later on.

16.00 - If I am lucky hubby will come home around this time and it is time for a cuppa and a catch up before tea at five area.

18.30 - Generally if it is dry we will take a walk to the beach front and get some fresh air and exercise, before heading home and catching up on a movie or telly program.

20.30 - generally start thinking of heading up to bed at this time, we generally go a bit earlier then some people, watch a bit of telly for about an hour - I will generally have a read and then turn over around half past ten.

So there you go a little snap shot of my day.

Craft Everyday In June - Day 20

Good Morning

10 days left - So far I have enjoyed the challenge Kairen has done and if she does it next year at this second in time, I think I would be joining her again.

So today she set the theme of: Day 20:  What’s your favourite quote and why you love it OR Craft something that has the colour green in it

I didn't have chance to get something green done so I went with

"What's your favourite quote and why you love it"

For me straight away when I seen this I knew exactly what quote I would be using. This quote took me straight back to an extremely special day, a day that I look back on and do nothing but smile, this quote was introduced to me then and whenever I hear it, it takes me back to that special day and brings back so many memories..  If you haven't already guessed, the quote was read out to my by our best man at the my wedding, bless him he was so nervous, and was so worried about his speech as he didn't want to let us down. He absolutely nailed it, his speech was amazing so sweet, so funny, so kind, so caring but so genuine in the words.

He introduced me to the quote of:

"To Love, To Laughter, To Happy Ever After"

Not a long quote, not a quote of many words, but for me it means everything.

Thanks again for stopping in, 10 days left :-)

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 19

Good Morning Everyone,

Day 19 and I am still here - getting closer to the end every day ;-)

So the theme Karien set is

Day 19:  Tell us ten things that make you happy OR Craft something that has a food theme

I have a hard enough time with food never mind crafting it, so I went with the "10 things that you happy"

Wow 10 things. Really that is all I get okay here goes.

1. Scrapbooking - Makes me rethink to the time I am scrapbooking and brings back some awesome memories.
2. Sending a handmade gift/card and getting really good feedback.
3. Walking hand in hand down the beach with the hubby.
4. Spending time with the family doing nothing special just having a walk through the woods, or having a coffee in a coffee shop
5. Having a meal with family/friends.
6. Getting new crafty goods delivered to the door especially the ones you forgot you ordered.
7. Road trip with the hubby - doesn't have to be going anywhere special, just setting off in the car, getting a coffee for the journey and generally having a chat and spending time away from the telly and computers
8. Sunday dinners
9. Bottle of wine and a catch up with friends
10. Holidays - be it in the UK or Abroad, I don't mind just spending time away from the chores of the house exploring new areas and generally having a great time.

These are in no particular order and are a bit of both crafty and personal, I thought when I was tasked to it - oh wow that will be easy, but actually it took a bit of thinking about because a lot of things make me happy, so to narrow it down to just 10 took a bit of time to work out.

Thanks so much for stopping in, and for all of you who have been here everyday, you really are fantastic.

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 18

Afternoon Everyone,

Sorry today's post is a little late, it was my University open day today, so me and my brother went to have a look around as we will both be starting our degree courses in September, ended up spending more time then I thought we would.. Was great fun tho!

Anyhow on to today card and Kairen set the theme of

Day 18: Take a picture of or describe your craft space OR Craft something that has a Christmas theme

Let me share with you my Christmas Creation.

This is a wine/champagne bottle decorator thingy (can you tell I have no idea what it is called) I have made a few of these over time and they get really great feedback when they are on the table, so thought why not make one again and get it put away with the rest of the Christmas stuff - One less thing to thing about closer to the time.

It is a cut down A4 card - I believe it is 4 inches by the width of a normal A4 piece of card stock.

I used a Lili of the Valley stamp, coloured him with promarkers, added lots of stickles glue, matted and layered the image and designer paper. Added a sentiment some fake stitching and it is done.

I will be sharing, my craft room with you soon, we have been decorating our "office" and I have some before and some during photos, but no after photos, so I will pop them up another day once I have tidied it up and got some pics done.

Well that is it for me for today.
Don't forget to pop back tomorrow for day 19.

Craft or Blog Everyday In June - Day 17

Hi Guys,

So today is Day 17 and our theme set by Kairen is:

Day 17:  Describe your perfect afternoon OR Craft something that has an animal theme

So I have a double post for you today.

My perfect afternoon is: Meeting with friends or family for a trip to the beach, or park with the dogs, and kids and have a good walk around and watch the kids playing, then on to get a coffee together and a good catch up. Once back home I love to sit and blog or get some ideas for my cards whilst my hubby is watching some form of racing, after a few hours, we will snuggle down with a coffee and maybe a cheeky cake if we are feeling naughty and watch a TV series, we are the kind of couple who can get addicted and watch one episode after another after another, not so much in the summer as we prefer to make use of the nice weather, after all we only get decent weather in England for a short period of time!

I also decided to craft something that has an animal theme, I seen a card with this layout done on the "little scraps of heaven" facebook fan page and new I had to have a go with it. The snail is so cute and I think he could cheer anyone up. As per the norm tho mine looks no were near as good as the "original" one!

How cute is he! I stamped the eyes on using peachy keen stamps, coloured them in with a white gel pen, added some pink to the "cheeks" and three white dots for detail, and a white strip across his nose! I embossed his shell and then left him natural so not to over load him.

Thanks for stopping in today, don't forget to pop back tomorrow and leave a comment.

I have decided as well that  I will also do a little give away -  3 separate winners -
Prize 1 - £10 Bee Crafty Gift Voucher
Prize 2 - £5 Craft Magazine - winner to choose
Prize 3 - Lili of the valley stamp to the value of £4.75
The only rules to be eligible are:
1. Follow my blog
2. Comment a minimum of 20 days out of the 30
This is not a rule but I would also love for you to follow me on Facebook - if you do follow me, let me  know in the comments and this will give you an additional entry.
Unfortunately due to postal charges these days this give away is only open to UK friends. (I will look into how I can do a give away for my international friends and try and do something in a few months time)
