Mothers Day Treats

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Just a quick post today.

Thought I would quickly share with you a photo of some muffins I made for Mothers Day.

I don't normally do cakes very well (i can get them light and fluffy and taste nice but decoration is not my strong point)

So for Mothers Day I wanted to give it another go and I am so glad that I did, I really like how they turned out, and so did the family.

They are Vanilla Muffin, with Lemon Icing and daisies cut from icing.

The recipe I used is one from my nan, which was probably passed down from her Mam.

I  used:

225G Self Raising Flour
225G Caster Sugar
225G Butter
3 Eggs
Pinch of Baking Powder
Milk to mix

The icing is butter cream icing with regal daisies.

Thanks for looking.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mothers Day to all you mums out there.

For my American friends, today is Mother's day in the UK and no doubt all the mums have been spoilt by their kiddies.

Today's card is a card I made for my brother to give to my mum, our mum loves Owls and when I seen this SVG file from Kadoodle Bug Designs I knew I had to use it for her card. The image was a free file at the time but you can still buy it - The file is called "Ottie Owl"

I cut the file using my cameo

I matted and layered it up, and used distress inks to give texture and to edge the pieces, I used a Cuttlebug "Bubbles" embossing folder for his belly and glossy accents on his eyes.

I used a couple of files from Birds Cards, I used her Flowers 4 and her Decorative Frame 1   I also used one of her Sentiment Files "Happy Mother's Day"

I love the cameo and how the print and cut works every time and how good the cuts come out.

I still need a little bit of practise with it, but my poor Expression machine is slightly jealous of all the attention the Cameo is getting.

I am entering this into the following challenges.

Challenges 4 Everyone -#39- Anything Goes (2nd Entry) - 04/04
Dream Valley Challenges - #7 - Mothering Sunday - 06/04
Glitter n Sparkle - #78 - Mothers Day - 06/04

Thanks for looking and I hope you have all  had a lovely day

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I had trouble with this, I have never used Vinyl before and then I had to try and find the Vinyl - anyway after I got the vinyl I decided to start my Christmas gifts, last year I had so many ideas for Christmas gifts but never got around to getting them done, so this year I am determined to make it happen.

I took a candle, that already had gold paint on it from the manufacture.

I added a ribbon and bow to the top of the candle.

I used my Cameo machine - can I just say I love it - I love my cricut but I love this even more then that; which I never thought possible.

I used Birds Cards free files - I love her files they are so sweet and cut perfectly every time.

I took a sentiment and a swirly Christmas Tree and sized it to what I wanted to fit on my candle I think the tree was 5 inches and the sentiment about 4 - I did write it down, but the crafty fairy has been and tidied up and I now can not find the measurements - When I do come across them I will add them for you.

I need a bit more practice with them more so with the bow and the ribbon, need to try and make that Bow a little bit bigger but for now I am happy with the results

(Please note - I do not know how the candle will react with the vinyl on when lit, please do not leave candles unattended - If you are unsure please remove the Vinyl first before lighting.)

Thank you for popping in and I look forward to reading your comments.

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas

Good Morning Everyone,

Christmas already I hear you say.. Well it is on my blog today :-)

Today's card is for the Fab n Funky Challenge Blog and this weeks theme is run by the "Fab" team and our theme is :-

CHRISTMAS

This week we have had the lovely Bugaboo sponsor us and provide us with the lovely images.

The image I picked was "Holiday Cheer Glass"

The card is a red A4 card blank folded in half to create an A5 card blank, the backing paper has been printed on my laser from the Do Crafts, Papermania Christmas Collection.

The image was printed using my laser printed and coloured in using my promarker pens, to add additional detail I added little white highlights and black stitching to some of the articles in the glass and around the topper.

The image has been cut out using the Labels 23 Grand Nestabilities, this is the smallest in this set that has been used.

The sentiment is a sentiment I got on a magazine years ago and I love it, and use it all the time, I cut it out using a spellbinders Octagon shape die, again this is the smallest of this set.

To finish the card of I added a strip in the middle of the card and six pieces of card candi to the edges.

That is it for me, thanks for looking in.

Harroagte Stash

Morning Everyone,

Some of you may know that I went to the Harrogate Craft Show on the 15th March.

So I thought that I would share with you some items that I got.

So I got a smash book for £5.00 and lots of smash items including journal cards, washi tap for £1.00 a pack - I have been thinking of doing a Smash Book for a while and have picked them up loads in Hobby Craft but have put them back, so was so excited when I found them in a bargain bin and at such low prices. I am saving it for my up and coming holiday (if I can) and I am going to "scrap" on the go this time and see how I feel about it :-)

My regular viewers will no that I love flowers on my cards, and I normally make them from using m cricut machine, but when I seen these on offer I couldn't not get them.  I got 6 packs for £5.00 and the big flowers have 6 in each pack and depending on how you used the sprigs I recon you can get loads of them.

I got some brads and stamps, again these were at silly low prices I paid £1.00 for the brads and £3.50 for the stamps

Next up was a pack of "Project Life" Journal Cards, this was the holiday collection and I got 100 journal cards for £5.00 I have took a few out of the box to show you what kind of thing they have, but if your not familiar with them (I didn't know what to expect but thought that I wold take a punt and see what I got for my money when I got them home) you get double sided cards, and in this holiday collection they have loads of different holidays in the packet but most of the cards you could use just as mats or nice back grounds as they don't have any dates/holidays on.. Hope that makes sense if not hopefully the pics will help make it clearer.

and last but not least, I have a serious alcohol pen addiction, I have Promarker, Flex markers, Copics, Graphic It's, Spectrum Noirs; so when I found these pens I had to buy a combination that would blend well to give them ago. I have a review scheduled soon for all my marker pens, so keep an eye out for that popping up.

These are the new pens, the lady I got them from really rates them so looking forward to giving them a good going over.

So that is what I got, not as much as I normally get and I did come home with some pennies left, but it was that busy you could not get to some of the stalls, never mind Ross Paper Craft show is coming to town soon, so gives me more pennies for then :-)

Thanks for stopping in, and I look forward to reading what you all got at the Harrogate show and the NEC over the next few days :-)

Happy Birthday Gamer

Good Afternoon Everyone,

How are we all today, I hope everyone who  has gone to the NEC this weekend have all had a fantastic day and spent lots of pennies. My husband keeps saying he is going to take me, but I always talk myself out of going, well might just have to buy my ticket for the next one, then it will make me go.

Anyway on to today's card.

I have used my cameo to create the main "image" for this card which I really enjoyed using and found it a lot easier then I thought I would.

I got the file from Birds Cards and used her file Game Controller Card  She does this in cut file format as well as digital images. If some of you can remember I used Birds Cards digital images for the freebie feature in Complete Cardmaking.

I didn't alter the size of the file I just used it as it opened on my software, what I did though was change my "Paper" size to the size that I wanted the controller to fit on and made sure it was all going to fit correctly, and it fitted perfectly.

The challenges I am entering this into is:

Brown Sugar - # 86 Anything Goes - 28/03
Cut It Up - # 41 - Anything Goes - 02/04
Sister Act Card Challenge - #49 Anything Goes - 28/03

Well I hope you like it and I look forward to reading your comments.

Wings of Love

Good Morning Everyone,

How is your Sunday?

Today is the start of a new challenge over at Eclectic Ellapu

This weeks theme is Wings or  Butterflies and Flowers.

My card is an 8x8 card blank that has been matted with white card stock and one layer colored with my promaker pen to give the look of a purple mat. I did this because I didn't have the correct colour of purple in my stash.

The image is a Lili of the Valley stamp.

I hope you like and thank you for stopping in.

One card two styles - Case Me With A Die Cut

Good Morning Everyone,

How are we all?

Today's post is a little bit different.

For Scrapbooker PhD Challenge #8

Faith has made a challenge of CASE yourself and die cut.

This means you need to make a card based on a card that you have previously made and the cards need to have a die cut on.

I struggled at first as to what to make, but I soon got my thinking cap on and got it made.

So here are the cards

My Original Card - Which you can find here

And here is my new card

I decided to keep the same die cut which is cut from my cricut using the "home decor" cartridge, and is cut at 2 1/2 inches with a shadow around it.

The saying "#1 dad" and the little square's are also cut from my cricut machine.

I finished the card with a piece of black ribbon and some stitching around  the edges.

I really like how it looks in black and white.

The challenges I am entering this into are:-

Just Inspirational Challenges - Anything Goes - 18/03
Through The Craft Room Door - Anything Goes - 18/03

I hope you can pop on over to Faith's blog and join us in our challenge.

Thanks for stopping in.

Wow Animals Only

Good Morning Everyone,

How are we all today.

Today I have for you a new card that I have made for our challenge over at Fab n Funky, this week is the turn of the Fab team.

Our challenge is

Animals (No people allowed)

We have been very lucky to have the challenge sponsored by "Fitztown"

My card is an 8x8 card blank matted and layered with pink and white card.

The top pink layer has been embossed through an embossing folder with butterflies, the embossing folder is from Crafters Companion and it is one of their A4 Folders.

The middle section of the card is cut using the nestabilities curved border A2 die set, I cut this in half to make it fit and hid the join behind the image.

The heart die is a memory box die, the corner die is from a set of corner dies I think Nellie Snellen but can't say that for sure. I will try and dig it out and let you know

The flower is a flower I cut using my cameo machine, this is layered up and when you get the card you can "puff" them up a bit more to give additional height to them.

The sentiment is from a House Mouse stamp set, and this has been cut out using a nestabilitie.

The image is of course from Ftiztown, and this has been coloured in using promaker pens and then cut out using a nestabilitie from Labels 1 Grand (this is the smallest in this set)

The challenges I am entering this into are

Papertake Weekly - Bingo (Gems, Die Cuts, Flowers) -18/03
Crafting From The Heart - Anything Goes / Favourite Colours (pink) - 17/03

 That is it for me

I hope you like

Spring Flowers

Good Morning Everyone,

Well isn't it beautiful today, we have lovely clear blue skies, and the sun is certainly shining down on us.

The card I made is for my husbands aunt for her birthday at the end of Feb.

I decided to use my grand Spellbinders Label 1 - I didn't use the largest size this time around, so I think it is sizes 4,3, and 2. the last being the smallest.

I used some Crafters Companion Pearl Card in a yellow, that in certain lights gives a slight green look to it as well. The white card is from The Papermill.

The image is from Lili of the Valley.  I left the bunny white, coloured his little inner ears and nose and left him as he was, I used my promarkers to colour the flowers, leaves and water in the jug.

I used some polka dot sheer ribbon for the accent across the middles, I stamped my sentiment on the Crafters Companion card and cut it out using a spellbinder dies.

I finished the card with six pieces of card candi.

The challenges I am going to enter this into are:-
613 Avenue Craft - Anything Goes - 16/03
Challenges 4 Everybody - Anything Goes - 04/04
The ABC Challenge - G is for Girls - 15/03
I Love Promakers - One for the Girls - 12/03

Thank you for popping in, I love reading your comments and they are always appreciated.

I will be back on Wednesday for a new challenge card.

Hugs and Kisses

Good Afternoon Everyone,

How are we all today?

Today's card is a card I made for valentines day for my father in law to give to my mother in law.

The card is an 8x8 card blank and matted and layered with pink card and pink backing papers, The top layer is a white layer and is embossed with a heart embossing folder, the folder I used was one of Sue Wilson's A4 Embossing folder. I think it is called tumbling hearts.

The image is James the bear from Lili Of The Valley and was stamped using memento ink  and coloured using Graph It Marker pens, the heart was re stamped on coordinating backing paper, cut out and placed over the original stamped image.

I used a heart border punch added some ribbon to it and placed this across the center of the card.

To finish the card I added two heart dies from Memory Box Designs Dies, a sentiment that I stamped and three pieces of card candi.

The challenges I am entering this into are

Crafty Catz - #221 - Paper Piecing - 14/03

Fireman Sam

Good Afternoon Everyone,

How are we all today.

This feels weird typing this on a Thursday afternoon as I am normally at work, however, today I am half a day so I am relaxing with a coffee, watching some chick flick telly program and writing up lots of blogs to be scheduled over the next few days.

Okay so today I have a card I made for my husbands cousins little boy, who turned 4 last week, and loves Fireman Sam. He has a whole wall in his room as Fireman Sam on a Murial type thing and looks fab, so of course I thought he would love a Fireman Sam card, which he did and it his grandma said she might even frame it and pop it in his room for him - how fab would that be.

So my card is an 8x8 card blank matted with a blue layer, backed with a fire engine backing paper, and then Fireman Sam, matted on a spellbinder shape, to finish his card I added his name, and age and some card candi.

Fireman Sam has been cut using my Cricut machine (I was hoping to use my Cameo but ran out of time and didn't have time to search for one oops)

So the Fireman was cut at 4 1/2 inches and built up using his layers that are provided in the book. I cut his little fire hydrant at 2 inches and popped it behind him giving the look he is popping out of the page, I also added a hose to his hand.

I used a peachy keen stamp for his face and added extra detail (this is something I do need to work on, but this is my first time with Peachy Keen Stamps, so I am pleased with it, but know I could get it better)

What would I change with my card, the name and age looking at it now, I wish I had cut a shadow for them and coloured the shadow in, in black with the yellow writing on the top, to help make the wording stand out a lot more.

I am going to enter this card into the following challenges:

4 Krafty Girls - Anything Goes - 20/03
Seize the Birthday - Anything Goes Birthday - 13/03
Crafting By Design - Month Long Anything Goes -01/04
Crafty Creations Challenge - #258 Happy Birthday - 19/03

Thanks for looking I really appreciate you taking the time to come over to my blog and leave the lovely comments that you do.
